Theatrical papers of Augustin Daly [manuscript], 1863-1900.

These papers arose out of Daly's various theatrical enterprises. Some years are more fully documented than others. Contents: Deeds, including leases of theaters in New York and London, 1869-1893 (1-17); licenses to operate his New York theaters, and to employ children, and the Lord Chamberlain's permissions to perform various plays, 1873-1899 (18-40); insurance policies, 1872-1893, (41-56); agreements with theatrical producers, authors, actors and actresses and others, n.d., 1863-1900 (57-304) (includes agreements to sell his theatrical costumes to Fanny Davenport, 1877 (170-172), papers arising out of the performance of "Pique" (adapted from Mrs. Lean's novel, February 1884), (224), the agreement between Tennyson and Daly about the performance of The Foresters, January 25, 1892 (257), and a translation of Sarah Bernhardt's agreement with M.L.
